Leicester Lunch Club.

School holidays are not just a break from the classroom. For many in need, they are also a break from hot meals. This is where Leicester Lunch Club comes in.

During school holidays we run a club that looks to engage children in arts, craft and other activities, whilst including a hot lunch too. We are working in partnership with Make Lunch to provide free, healthy, cooked food for pupils who usually receive free school meals because we believe that every child deserves to eat a cooked meal every day.

The Facts

For the thirteen weeks of school holidays, many pupils in the city of Leicester will not eat a hot meal each day. At school more than 26,000 pupils who may otherwise go without are eligible to receive free school meals. However, outside of term time free school meals are not available and many pupils are left without regular hot food.

We believe that children and parents should look forward to school holidays rather than worrying about where their food might come from. We don't think anybody should go hungry and we’re committed to doing something about it.

When?

We currently open twice a week during school holidays at St Andrews Church Hall in Aylestone, starting at 12 noon through to 1:45pm.
